In a previous Atlanta Daily World report, Mo’Nique told an entertainment television show that “Empire” director Lee Daniels had first offered her the juicy role of Cookie in the runaway blockbuster hit show before the role eventually went to, of course, Taraji P. Henson.
Both Mo’Nique and Daniels, in their own way, said that she was nixed from the role by Fox executives because she’s been “blackballed” in Hollywood because of her aggressive mannerisms and being “difficult” to work with.
Henson fans quickly dashed to social media upon learning that bit of news to support Henson and to refute that Mo’Nique could have done a better job in the role of Lucious’ ex-wife and business partner in the hip hop empire.

Taraji P. Henson, who has mostly stayed above the fray, has nevetheless offered a subtle response to the controversy.
