Trayvon Martin‘s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, reacted Thursday night to a juror in George Zimmerman’s murder trial admitting in an ABC interview that she believes the former neighborhood watch captain “got away with murder.” As previously reported by NewsOne, juror B29 — or Maddy — claims that she felt pressured to find Zimmerman not guilty: “I was the juror that was going to give them a hung jury,” she said. “I fought to the end. “I felt like I let a lot of people down, and I’m thinking to myself, `Did I go the right way? Did I go the wrong way?’” she said. “As much as we were trying to find this man guilty … They give you a booklet that basically tells you the truth, and the truth is that there was nothing that we could do about it.” The mother of eight children, who recently moved to Florida from Chicago, claims that she is “hurting as much Trayvon’s Martin’s mother because there’s no way that any mother should feel that pain.” But she doesn’t believe that Zimmerman got ...

In an explosive interview with ‘Democracy Now‘s Amy Goodman, Dr. Cornel West labeled President Barack Obama a “global George Zimmerman” for his unethical — and expanding — drone war that is responsible for the murders of hundreds of innocent children, and for closely considering New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly — the architect of ‘Stop and Frisk[2]‘ – for Secretary of Department of Homeland Security. “I think we have to acknowledge that President Obama has very little moral authority at this point, because we know anybody who tries to rationalize the killing of innocent peoples, a criminal—George Zimmerman is a criminal—but President Obama is a global George Zimmerman, because he tries to rationalize the killing of innocent children, 221 so far, in the name of self-defense, so that there’s actually parallels here. “So when he comes to talk about the killing of an innocent person, you say, “Well, wait a minute. What kind of moral authority are you bringing? You’ve got $2 mi ...
MIAMI -- Despite an outcry from civil rights groups, a call for close examination by President Barack Obama and even a 1960s-style sit-in at the Florida governor's office, the jury's verdict that George Zimmerman was justified in shooting unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin is unlikely to spur change to any of the nation's stand-your-ground ...
The Houston Police Department has stepped up its presence in the River Oaks area Sunday afternoon in anticipation of violence breaking out at dueling pro-Zimmerman, pro-Trayvon rallies. The pro-Trayvon rally was organized by community activist Quanell X, who said that the “call to action” is to protest Zimmerman’s acquittal. “I’m encouraging everybody who marches with us to remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said X, “and how he protested. Let’s follow those same instructions. Let’s follow that same legacy. And let’s not do anything that would bring shame to the memory of Trayvon Martin and our cause of justice.” The counter-protest is to show support for the controversial, racially biased “Stand Your Ground” law that was at the heart of Zimmerman’s murder trial. While some businesses closed early, some never opened, reports KHOU.com. Still others removed their inventory to avoid looting. Police Chief Charles McClelland is asking that people do not travel to the River Oaks ...
