SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Swine flu is continuing to relent in Illinois where officials are reporting one new death from the virus. Thursday’s weekly update includes 41 new hospitalizations related to swine flu. Last week, in comparison, state officials were reporting two new deaths and 99 new hospitalizations. The Illinois Department of Public Health says even though swine flu activity is decreasing in the state, residents still should get vaccinated. The state director of public health, Dr. Damon Arnold, was vaccinated on Wednesday for swine flu. Arnold says swine flu is still circulating and holiday parties and family get-togethers are a good opportunity for the flu to spread. Arnold says the "best protection against getting the flu is to get vaccinated." Copyright 2009 The Associated Press.
