The man charged with assaulting and robbing seven women in separate downtown parking garages is scheduled to appear in bond court today. Robert Branch was charged Sunday with seven counts of aggravated robbery and one count of marijuana possession. The 41-year-old allegedly lurked in parking garages in the 500 block of North State, the 100 block of North Dearborn, the 100 block of East Randolph, the 100 block of North Jefferson and the 500 block of North Dearborn between December and last week waiting for lone females to pounce upon, police said. Police said Branch would state he had a gun, demand their money and beat them. Surveillance footage from the garages captured the man in action. Branch had 10 prior convictions for similar crimes, police said. One of the attacks occurred about one week after Branch was released on parole for a 20-year term. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
