A 15-year-old boy stabbed a fellow schoolmate Wednesday who had allegedly been bullying him. The students, both sophomores at DuSable Leadership Academy on 49th Street and Wabash Avenue, were in a conflict resolution meeting in a counselor’s office when the boy stabbed another student, a 16-year-old, said a Chicago Public Schools spokesperson. The offender’s father decided to take his son home for the day after the meeting, and while the son went to his locker to get his things, the boy had an encounter with his alleged bully. The boy ran back to the office, grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him. The offender’s father said his son was acting in self-defense because he’d been harassed by the other student since October but the school took little action, he said. He was arrested, and no disciplinary action by CPS was disclosed. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Chicago Fire Department. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
