A Crane High School student was gunned down as he walked his younger sister to school Wednesday morning. Sixteen-year-old Ramone Morris was shot in the back of the head shortly after 9 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Adams Street, less than two blocks from his home. As a signal of distress and to bring national attention to the violence in the city, Fr. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church on the South Side positioned the American flag that hangs outside of his church upside down. Flags in that position signal “of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property,” according to the U.S. Flag Code. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
