Members of the congregation of St. Sabina Catholic Church will meet with Cardinal Francis George concerning the sabbatical he ordered for the Rev. Michael Pfleger.
George this week told Pfleger to temporarily step down from his post to “reflect on his recent statements” regarding Sen. Hillary Clinton and her bid for the White House. Last week, Pfleger mocked Clinton at Sen. Barack Obama’s former church, saying the New York senator felt “entitled” to the Democratic nomination for president. Obama is the party’s nominee. St. Sabina Deacon Michael Threet said Wednesday that his Number One concern is Pfleger’s absence from the building and fear he will not return. George has allowed Pfleger to stay as pastor of St. Sabina beyond the two six-year term limit that is church policy.
