St. Anthony's Hospital New Location to Include Recreation Center

(AP) — A nonprofit organization is developing a vacant lot in southwest Chicago as a community retail center and the new location for St. Anthony Hospital.

The $430 million project is called Focal Point. The Chicago Southwest Development Corporation says rents from retail stores and other tenants at Focal Point will be reinvested into programs such as wellness classes and a recreation center.

The 11-acre lot will be the site of three main buildings and a parking garage. The campus will include a junior size soccer field.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2014 and be completed by 2017. The project will be financed through a mix of donations, grants and tax credits. The site is located at 31st and Kedzie.
