The Women’s Development Business Center, a Chicago non-profit organization, and United Parcel Service of America Inc. will sponsor a free reception this week for women entrepreneurs looking for business opportunities in South Africa. Nomvume Magaqa, South African Consulate General in Chicago, and Mmabatho Matiwane, a director of South African Women Entrepreneurs Network in South Africa, will speak to attendees about current business opportunities in South Africa for women. Entrepreneurs Sherrell Slaise and Sarah Ware, principals of The Carter Ware Group Inc., a Chicago Black-owned real estate brokerage firm, said they plan to attend. “Anytime a Black business has a chance to expand internationally–especially to a country like South Africa–they should jump on it,” said Slaise. “The real estate industry is suffering right now in America, so going abroad would be ideal right now while things calm down here.” The event will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Monaco Hotel, 225 N. Wabash Ave. Those planning to attend must RSVP by calling Valentina Tomova at (312) 939-6529. ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
