Congrats to Chicago’s VaShawn Mitchell, who was recently added as opening act for Bebe and Cece Winans and Mary Mary’s tour. Mitchell performed his latest track, Nobody Greater, which is burning up the charts and airwaves to a standing room crowd at the Chicago Theater earlier this month when the tour came to Chicago. Meanwhile, Cece Winans has once again teamed up with Donald Lawrence to promote church choirs across the country for the How Sweet the Sound Gospel Celebration.

Former Chicagoland natives Michelle Williams, Ann Nesby and Clifton Davis—who was raised in Chicagolooked great as they starred in David Talbert’s What My Husband Doesn’t Know. The show was fabulously headlined by Brian White and Morris Chestnut.

Super producer, Percy Gray and Stellar Award-winning Joshua’s Troop kicked off their first musical of the year recently at Trinity All Nations Church, 9600 S. Vincennes, where Bishop Larry Roberts is pastor. Gray is also preparing for the release of the Grammy-nominated Chicago Mass Choir’s release and concert on May 7.

Three-time Grammy winner, Darius Brooks, celebrated the second year anniversary of his church, Grace Central, 605 25th Avenue in west suburban Bellwood. Musical guests and speakers included Dr. Beatrice Gardner, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Pastor Steve Huff, Rev. Marshall Davis and Monique Walker. Brooks also recently returned from performing on the annual Radio One Cruise.

Industry executives and music lovers gathered to salute multiple award winning producer and writer, Percy Bady, on April 18 at the UIC Forum. Bady has written and produced a string of hits including, I Understand, Still I Rise, Hold Up the Light and more for Yolanda Adams, Bebe and Cece Winans, Smokie Norful, Tramaine Hawkins and Rev Milton Brunson’s Thompson Community Singers.
