There is only one thing that rivals Snoop Dogg’s love for rapping, weed and the Pittsburgh Steelers: his son’s promising football career.
ESPN probed this intrafamilial dynamic in the documentary, “Snoop & Son: A Dad’s Career,” as a look at how the Doggfather’s impassioned devotion to the game of football spilled into his son’s life. The media was invited to a special private screening at the newly constructed College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta.

The “Gin & Juice” lyrical legend was joined at the exclusive event by producer Jermaine Dupri, rapper Yung Joc and DJ Drama.
The Long Beach-born, Los Angeles-living Snoop, who coaches football and nurtured his own son told the audience following the screening that “when I first started coaching him, I was soft on him [Cordell]. When I began to see his potential and having been around so many athletes in my life and through coaching, I saw he had it in him. Not because he’s my son. There are certain things you have to do as a coach to pull it out of kids. I put some extreme pressure on [him] because I knew [he’d] overcome. He fell in love with football and it was no longer about me, it was about him.”
The five-part documentary takes audience on an intimate foray into father Calvin Broadus and his son, Cordell Broadus, 17. Recruiting connoisseurs and football pundits peg Broadus as “a standout student and prep player, and one of the most sought after recruits in the nation with top schools from Notre Dame to USC vying for him to play for them.”
The series will air four consecutive Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN (re-airs on ESPNU) with a fifth and final episode airing in mid-February.
