Slain Pittsburgh officer had Tennessee ties

MARTIN, Tenn. – One of the three Pittsburgh police officers killed Saturday after police responded to a domestic disturbance call was a former football player at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

MARTIN, Tenn. – One of the three Pittsburgh police officers killed Saturday after police responded to a domestic disturbance call was a former football player at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

School officials said Monday that 41-year-old Eric “Guy” Kelly, was a member of the 1987 Pacer football team.

Kelly was killed when he arrived to assist two other officers, Paul Sciullo II and Stephen Mayhle, who were shot and killed by 23-year-old Richard Poplawski.
