Shots Fired at Security Detail Outside Former Mayor Lightfoot’s Home

Early Saturday, shots were fired at the security detail outside former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s home.

The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. near Wrightwood and Kimball in Logan Square, hitting an unmarked police vehicle. No officers were injured, and they didn’t fire back, said police.

A bullet hit the windshield, and a fragment was found inside the vehicle. No arrests have been made.

A representative for Lightfoot provided the statement on behalf of the former mayor:

“There was an incident outside the Mayor’s home, but we will refer you to CPD News Affairs for details. The Mayor and her family are shaken by news of the incident but were not harmed. They are grateful for the dangerous work and sacrifice of the detail officers.”

ABC7 Chicago contributed to this report.
