Sheriff's Office to Conduct Specialized Enforcement Patrols

Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be conducting significant enforcement efforts during the next two weekends, focusing on DUI violators and seat belt violations, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Sheriff’s Police will conduct DUI enforcement  on the night of Saturday, Dec. 28 in county patrol areas.
On Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, Sheriff’s police officers will be conducting extra patrols focused on seat belt enforcement.
Sheriff’s Police conducted seat belt enforcement on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 in which a total of 51 traffic stops were made. Officers arrested one arrest person for driving on a suspended/revoked license and gave 13 seat-belt citations.
During a traffic safety checkpoint in Proviso on Nov. 27, officers made eight arrests, which included arrests for driving on a suspended/revoked license, possession of cocaine and DUI, and made a total of 30 traffic stops.
These patrols are all funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
