Members of the Cook County Sheriff’s office joined the Cook County Housing Authority, community members, and local churches to provide free turkeys to county residents, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Nearly 200 turkeys have been distributed to families throughout Cook County, including the Chicago’s Austin, West Pullman, and Little Village neighborhoods, as well as suburban Harvey, Dolton, and Robbins.
“Families look forward to this occasion every year,” said Sheriff Thomas Dart. “We’re extremely grateful for our partner organizations and community members across the county who care deeply about the families within their neighborhoods.
”The Sheriff’s Office has been distributing turkeys in coordination with partner organizations for nearly a decade.
