Cook County sheriff’s police arrested a south suburban man Monday for drug and gun possession after being tipped off during their investigation. “Typically the Cook County sheriff’s police will conduct investigations, and during our investigations of drug activity in the south suburbs, we received a tip that about this individual and acted on it,” said Lisa Gordan, spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Walter Wylie, 36, of the 13500 block of South Sawyer in Robbins, was charged Wednesday with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis, two felonies, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. He is being held at Cook County Jail on $15,000 bond. Wylie is due back in court June 1. Gordan said sheriff’s police recovered a loaded handgun, three boxes of ammunition, nearly 500 grams of cannabis and more than $500 in cash. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender.
