EMI Gospel recording artist, Sheri Jones Moffett, was in town sharing her message of being renewed–also the title track of her debut CD. The former lead singer with Donald Lawrence and Tri- City, known for the popular song, "Encourage Yourself," was eager to share her message of empowerment with the world. She spoke to the congregation at Grammy Award winner and label mate’s, Pastor Smokie Norful, Victory Cathedral Worship Center.
Then I had an opportunity to chat with her about her new and exciting solo career, new release and musical journey beginning with the days of Ted and Sheri.
Chicago Defender: Do you still sing the Stellar Award winning song, "Encourage Yourself"?
Sheri Jones Moffett: I still sing it and I will be singing it (chuckling). When Tri-City transitioned, Donald continued to write and produce. It was his way of nudging me and pushing me out of the nest because I got comfortable and said ‘do I have to…can’t I just stay with you?’
