Shamier Little, a South Side Chicago native, is an Olympic champion.

On Saturday, Little helped the U.S. women’s 4×400-meter relay team secure a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Little, who graduated from Lindblom Math & Science Academy in Englewood in 2013 and Texas A&M University in 2017 with a degree in Agricultural Leadership, played a crucial role in the team’s dominant performance. She set the tone by leading off her relay leg with a 49.48-second result before handing it off to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who blazed a 47.71.

After that, the relay race was basically decided.  The U.S. team left its competitors far behind, showcasing exceptional teamwork and athleticism.

Little’s gold medal win comes after her impressive performance in the Mixed 4×400-meter relay, where she earned a silver medal a week ago.

From Lindblom Math & Science Academy to Texas A&M, Little has always excelled on the track. Now, as an Olympic champion, she inspires athletes everywhere—especially in Chicago.
