Several high school seniors advance in citizen competition

Eight Chicago high school seniors from the Chicago Park District’s Central Region advanced to the next round in the park district’s Junior Citizen Award competition.

Eight Chicago high school seniors from the Chicago Park District’s Central Region advanced to the next round in the park district’s Junior Citizen Award competition.

The Junior Citizen program was designed to recognize and reward high school seniors who participate and exhibit leadership qualities in civic activities, church, parks and school.

Douglas Brewster (Whitney Young); Taylor Brown (Curie); William Crawford (Providence St. Mel); Brandon Duchon (Lane Tech); Zachary Ensworth (De La Salle); Dominique Heil (De La Salle-Lourdes Hall Campus); Karen Sosa (Queen of Peace); and Renita Williams (Whitney Young) and will represent the Central Region within the next few weeks during the district’s city-wide competition at Soldier Field.

Central Region Manager Art Richardson welcomed journalist Robin Robinson of WFLD-TV was the keynote speaker at the Central Region’s competition banquet at the Garfield Park Conservatory.
