For the next few months, visitors who wish to take a good look at downtown Chicago can do so comfortably indoors, and in any kind of weather. From Wednesday through Sept. 20, all they have to do is to go to the lobby of the Santa Fe Building on South Michigan Ave., where the Chicago Architecture Foundation has its offices. The foundation has put together a scale model of more than four square miles of the city, from the lakefront on the east to Halsted Street on the west and from Oak Street on the north to 16th Street to the south. It contains an exact model of every building in the area. There are more than 1,000 of them. Viewing of the 25-by-35-foot model is free of charge. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
