CHICAGO (AP) — Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel won’t have to wait much longer to see if he’ll be on the ballot for Chicago mayor. The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners says the hearing officer handling residency challenges against Emanuel is likely to issue his recommendation Wednesday. The election board then meets on Thursday and could decide the case that day. No matter what the board decides, the case is likely to end up in court. More than two dozen people have challenged Emanuel’s candidacy claiming he isn’t a Chicago resident because he lived for nearly two years in Washington working for President Barack Obama. Emanuel quit his job to come back to Chicago in October after Mayor Richard Daley announced he wouldn’t seek a seventh term. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
