A vigil will be held this evening in Roseland for 2-month-old Kayson Flowers, whose death last month was ruled a homicide.
On April 26, Kayson was found unresponsive inside a home on the 200 block of West 106th Street. His family rushed him to Roseland Hospital, but it was too late. The Cook County Medical Examiner later confirmed he had died from multiple injuries tied to child abuse.
Police say Kayson had been dead for six to eight hours before being returned to his mother, according to a statement published on Facebook group titled Justice For’Kayson.
Kayson’s mother, Kayla Flowers, said she let her son stay with his father for a week. No one has been charged. Detectives are still investigating who harmed Kayson.
Now the community is stepping in. Roseland Christian Ministries and Kayson’s family are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. A vigil for Kayson will also be held at Roseland Christian Ministries (10858 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago) at 5 p.m.
“We, the family and friends of Kayson Flowers, along with Roseland Christian Ministries, are calling on our community and beyond to demand justice for this precious baby,” the family said in a statement posted to Facebook.
