A Chicago Police officer responding to a call of shots fired Friday in the Lawndale neighborhood was caught in the gunfire.

A Chicago Police officer responding to a call of shots fired Friday in the Lawndale neighborhood was caught in the gunfire. The rookie officer was struck in the shoulder by an unknown person while responding to the call –– along with his partner –– about 2 a.m. near 18th Street and South Washtenaw Avenue, police said, adding that no shots were fired by either officer.
