Tyrone Ward, Mayor of the Village of Robbins, will be joined by members of the Southland Regional Mayoral Black Caucus (SRMBC), Executives from Com Ed, the Cook County Census Bureau, and over 12 other companies in a mobile mass give away throughout the Village of Robbins.
Mayor Ward, who doubles as President of SRMBC, along with other political leaders will express the dismal response to the Census from Cook County residents.
“The response throughout the state hasn’t been good, specifically communities that are predominated by minorities. Our neighborhoods are on an unfortunate pace to lose millions of dollars if these census numbers don’t increase soon,” says Mayor Ward.
The Mayors from various other suburban towns will announce a renewed effort over the next few months to increase the current dismal census sign-ups.
The mass group of leaders, companies, and not-for-profit organizations will drive their respective company vans and marked vehicles throughout Robbins stopping at numerous stops. At every pause within the mobile give away leaders will approach residents and give them free masks, school supplies, sanitizers, gloves, book bags, health screenings, and hot meals. But moreover, there will be Census workers appealing to residents to complete their census forms directly on the spot.
The giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, 2020 @ 10:00 AM at 13500 S. South Turner, Robbins, Illinois.
