Nolan Richardson will receive the Honorary Alumni Award from the Black Alumni Society of the Arkansas Alumni Association. The former Arkansas basketball coach will be the featured guest at the BAS reunion April 16-19. His 1994 national championship team, honored recently by the university at a basketball game, will receive special recognition that weekend. Former Arkansas basketball player Ronnie Brewer is also being recognized. He’ll receive the Community Service Award. Richardson was fired in 2002 and later lost a discrimination lawsuit against the school, but relations have thawed recently, and Richardson was welcomed back for the 1994 team’s ceremony about three weeks ago. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
