Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger will serve one year in prison for driving under the influence (DUI) after she crashed her car last year.

On Wednesday (Feb. 26), Huger was sentenced to two years in prison with one year mandatory after being convicted in December by a Montgomery County jury of DUI, negligent driving, failing to control her vehicle’s speed to avoid a collision, and failing to notify authorities of a change of address, per WJLA.

The charges stemmed from Huger’s involvement in a single-vehicle collision in Potomac on March 19, 2024. Police said the reality TV star crossed a median and hit multiple street signs.

During her trial, witnesses alleged that Huger’s car smelled like alcohol. An EMT who responded to the scene said Huger attempted to refuse treatment and “swayed” as she tried to step into the ambulance. According to the EMT, Huger allegedly told responders to “f*** off” and “go f*** yourselves.” The reality television star allegedly complimented a female firefighter minutes later, saying “You’re so beautiful.”

Body camera footage shown during the trial revealed an officer told Huger she was “hammered,” to which she responded “bullsh**.”

During Wednesday’s sentencing hearing, Huger’s defense asked the judge to “have some compassion.” Lawyers also said Huger regretted the night of her arrest and had sent a letter apologizing to the officers involved.
