The Rev. Jesse Jackson was emotionally shaken after learning that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, had died at age 50. The Rev. Jackson, a close friend of the Grammy award-winning singer, was speaking on a panel downtown at the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealer’s annual convention when news broke about Michael Jackson being rushed to the hospital. The reverend cut his panel discussion short but offered some words on the world famous recording artist before leaving the conference, which was held at the Sheraton Hotel. “He (Michael Jackson) was a perfectionist and always strived to be the best,” Jackson told the Defender. “He was a man who loved his children, and while some people may have seen him as strange, I saw him as a man determined to fight back and give more.” Before leaving the conference, the Rev. Jackson led a prayer on behalf of the Jackson family. “Father bless his children, bless his family and bless his soul,” he said. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
