Rev. Dr. James L. Brooks is a distinguished leader and resident of Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Lawndale Christian Health Center, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing community health and well-being.
In addition to his leadership in healthcare, Rev. Dr. Brooks is the lead pastor of Harmony Community Church, a congregation dedicated to loving and serving like Christ.
Rev. Dr. Brooks holds a Doctor of Ministry and a Master of Divinity from Northern Theological Seminary, as well as a bachelors degree in management from Concordia University. He has further expanded his expertise through specialized certifications from the University of Illinois, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Princeton Theological Seminary, and the University of Kansas.
Beyond his professional and pastoral roles, Rev. Dr. Brooks is deeply engaged in community development. He serves on the boards of North Lawndale College Prep and Reclaiming Chicago, an initiative dedicated to building 1,000 homes on Chicago’s West Side. Additionally, he serves on the Illinois State Medical Board.
