Rev. Al Sharpton/NAN Issue Statement on Sanford Rubenstein Rape Allegations

It seems Rev. Al Sharpton and his NAN/National Action Network is caught up some one else’s mess. And it’s not a good look.
The story goes that famed NYC attorney Sanford Rubenstein has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman after Sharpton’s 60th birthday bash.
On top that the woman, 42, and as of yet, unidentified, is said to have ties to Sharpton and NAN as an executive. The alleged incident took place Wednesday at Rubenstein’s E. 64th St. apartment, according to the NY Daily News.
The accusation is being investigated as a third-degree rape. That charge is brought in cases where a victim is “incapable of consent,” suggesting that she may have been passed out drunk during the alleged encounter, the news outlet reported.
Rubenstein, 70, declined to comment to the Daily News and as of this posting hasn’t been charged.
“Sanford Rubenstein vehemently denies any misconduct,” said his lawyer, Michael Ross.
Meanwhile, in a statement emailed to EURweb and other media outlets, the NAN/Sharpton camp says it has no comment:
“National Action Network and Rev. Al Sharpton was made aware by media that a NAN top official made allegations against Sanford Rubenstein. National Action Network and Rev. Al Sharpton has not been notified or advised by any official investigating authorities. The allegations as reported occurred at a private residence after a NAN event and had nothing to do with NAN nor Rev. Al Sharpton, therefore we have no comment at this time.”
