SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The chairman of the Illinois Reform Commission says the panel is drafting proposed bills and is talking to state legislators about sponsoring them. Former federal prosecutor Patrick Collins says the commission has been in conversations with "some very prominent Democrats" about the drafted bills. The commission in late April delivered a blueprint for overhauling state ethics laws, including a limit on campaign contributions and an end to so-called gerrymandered congressional districts. On Wednesday, the group began posting on its Web site proposed bills based on its own recommendations. Collins is scheduled to present the proposals to the Illinois Senate Executive Committee on Friday. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
