Real Times Media announced Friday the acquisition of Who’s Who Publishing Company of Columbus, Ohio and its entire portfolio of Who’s Who publications that profile successful African Americans in major U.S. cities.

“Real Times welcomes the Who’s Who Publishing Company into the Real Times family of companies,” said Hiram Jackson, CEO of Real Times Media “Their unique publishing platform and growing nationwide presence compliments Real Times’ diversification strategy and advances our mission to be the leading resource of news and information for the African American market.”

Real Times Media controls a family of media companies including Real Times Media, RTM Digital Studios and now, Who’s Who Publishing. The company also oversees the nation’s largest African American-owned newspaper organization, comprising some of the oldest and most well-known African American newspapers: The Michigan Chronicle, Michigan Frontpage, Chicago Defender, New Pittsburgh Courier and the Tri-State Defender.

“We are extremely pleased to become part of the Real Times family,” said C. Sunny Martin, CEO of Who’s Who Publishing Company. This alliance will provide significant growth opportunities for both organizations and create a strategic vision for expanding our media assets.”

Who’s Who Publishing Company was founded in 1989 to highlight the positive achievements of African Americans and provide a valuable resource and networking guide for the community. The publication has expanded to over 25 cities across the country, including major locations such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and New York City.

The Who’s Who publications are different than the typical Who’s Who books because pictures are included along with biographical profiles of those featured.

“Adding Who’s Who to our portfolio of media companies adds greater value to the current and future clients of Real Times,” Jackson said. “It allows advertisers to reach their targeted audiences much more effectively.”
