The initiatives culminate in a special gathering on Saturday, December 7, at the organization’s national headquarters in Chicago.
A Commitment to Justice and Community Support
Every Saturday, the Coalition hosts a weekly food giveaway at Operation Rainbow PUSH, a program designed to alleviate hunger and support families in need. This enduring effort is inspired by Fred Hampton’s legacy of justice and community care, reinforcing the Coalition’s mission to provide economic and social support to underserved communities.

December 7th Forum: A Day of Action and Inspiration
The December 7th forum promises to be a meaningful day of reflection and empowerment. Anchored by a robust lineup of speakers and services, the event blends dialogue, community resources, and direct support for attendees. Breakfast begins at 9 a.m., followed by the main forum at 10 a.m.
Event Highlights:
- Inspiring Speakers: Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, Congressman Danny K. Davis, Attorney G. Flint Taylor, Attorney James Montgomery (former lawyer for the Black Panther Party), Commissioner Bill Lowry, Congressman Bobby Rush, and WVON host Kendall Moore will share insights on justice and equality, including reflections on World AIDS Day.
- Health and Wellness: Free health screenings, vaccinations, and resources provided by partners like the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and the Chicago Department of Public Health.
- Practical Services: The Illinois Secretary of State will provide services, including driver’s license renewals, state IDs, and business licensing support.
- HIV Awareness: The AHF Mobile HIV Truck will be on-site to promote testing and education.
- Grocery Bag Giveaway: Registered participants can receive free grocery bags, ensuring families leave with essential items for their homes.

Founded in 1996 from the merger of Operation PUSH and the National Rainbow Coalition, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition has long been a leading voice for civil rights, economic justice, and educational equity. This Founders Month initiative underscores the Coalition’s enduring commitment to uplifting communities while keeping the call to “keep hope alive” at the forefront.
