JOLIET, Ill. — Authorities in Will County say they’ve found a live bat that has rabies. In a Friday news release, the county’s health department says the bat was found hanging from a ladder in a swimming pool at a home in the community of Peotone this week. Tests confirmed the rabies. The bat is the second case of rabies to be confirmed in the county this year. The first one was also a bat, which was found near a home in Homer Glen. Authorities say there have been no reports that any people were exposed to the bat discovered Wednesday and that while there were pets on the property, it appears none of them came in contact with the bat. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
