Gov. Pat Quinn is headed to the DuQuoin (doo-KOYN’) State Fair and he’s having a party. Quinn will host an open house Saturday in the historic Hayes House on the fairgrounds. Illinois Historic Preservation Agency spokesman Dave Blanchette says the home is southern Illinois’ unofficial governor’s mansion. The fairgrounds are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The event is a chance for residents to meet Quinn, who took office in January when lawmakers removed former Gov. Rod Blagojevich after his arrest on federal corruption charges. The open house is Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The fair starts Friday and runs until Sept. 7. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
