Quinn proclaims day to honor ex-Chicago Bear Dent

Enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame isn’t the only honor these days for former Chicago Bear Richard Dent.

CHICAGO (AP) — Enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame isn’t the only honor these days for former Chicago Bear Richard Dent. Dent was honored Tuesday by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who named July 26, 2011, as "Richard Dent Day" in the state. The defensive end played on the Bears’ 1985 Super Bowl-winning team and was with Chicago for 12 seasons Dent thanked Quinn for the recognition during a ceremony at a downtown state office building. He’ll get more attention next month in Canton, Ohio, when he’s inducted into the Hall of Fame. Quinn called it a long overdue honor for Dent. He is the 27th Bears player elected to the Hall of Fame. Dent had been a finalist six of the previous seven years. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press.
