Gov. Pat Quinn plans a stop in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood to continue his lobbying for a balanced budget.

Gov. Pat Quinn plans a stop in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood to continue his lobbying for a balanced budget.

Quinn is slated to appear Monday with representatives of community and faith-based organizations.

The appearance comes the day before lawmakers are scheduled to return to Springfield for a special session to deal with the state’s budget mess.

Quinn wants lawmakers to vote as soon as Wednesday on an income tax increase to avoid massive budget cuts. He says the budget lawmakers passed before adjourning their spring session will force $9.2 billion in spending cuts.

Quinn has made the rounds of human services agencies to highlight the impact of the potential cuts and to advocate for a two-year, temporary tax increase.
