Just in time for Labor Day, Gov. Pat Quinn has appointed two new members to the Illinois Labor Relations Board.
Jacalyn Zimmerman will serve as chair of the seven-member board once her term starts in mid-October. Anne McElroy will serve as acting chairperson starting immediately.
Zimmerman is currently a private practice attorney. She was general counsel for the state labor board from 1984 to 2006. She’s also worked for the National Labor Relations Board.
McElroy is a deputy director for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services overseeing the bureau of personnel.
The Illinois Labor Relations Board governs the relations between unions and public employees and ensures the rights of workers to organize.
