Gov. Pat Quinn says a newly appointed Chicago Transit Board member has an "encyclopedic knowledge of transportation issues." Quinn announced Thursday that he’s named Jacky Grimshaw to the board. He says she’ll help make the Chicago Transit Authority more reliable and energy efficient. Grimshaw says the governor’s highly debated revenue increase proposal could help set up a rainy day fund for the CTA. She says the fund would prevent fare increases and service cuts during an economic downturn. Grimshaw is the vice president for policy at the Center for Neighborhood Technology. The board has monthly public meetings to discuss train and bus routes and plans. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
