CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago Police spokeswoman says protesters occupying the city’s financial district have been "very peaceful" and no arrests have been made.

A small group has been camped out for 11 days to protest corporate greed, inspired by a similar demonstration on Wall Street in New York.

Lt. Maureen Biggane says police have maintained open lines of communication with the group. She says participants immediately obeyed an officer’s request to remove some supplies from the sidewalk. A city ordinance bans storing items on the public way.

About 30 Chicago protesters held signs and beat drums Monday. Some say they heard about the Chicago protest from friends, from Twitter or from YouTube.

Many are young. But 72-year-old Mary O’Sullivan of Chicago says she’s been protesting four hours a day since last week.
