Porsha Williams has not only managed to keep her job on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” she also has parlayed her recent national fame into securing a new celebrity news and gossip gig.
Williams has exemplified enough skill and dexterity as an entertainment journalist to be offered a permanent position with “Dish Nation.”
These are definitely fruitful times for Williams. Remember, the former Porsha Stewart couldn’t seemingly keep anything last year — not her marriage to Kordell Stewart, not a full time job, and definitely couldn’t keep her temper in check when Kenya Moore taunted her to the point where Williams snatched her weave half way off.
Fortuity has replaced misfortune for Williams. The 33-year-old beauty filled in temporarily for the now-fired Ebony Steele on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” and surprised the full-time staff and TV executives.
Williams proved to be a natural behind the mic — and to have more depth than the empty-headed beauty that she had been made out to be, especially when Williams really thought that trains actually ran on the underground railroad. “Dish Nation” was impressed enough to offer Williams a full-time position as a celebrity news and gossip reporter.
Co-executive producers Michael Bachmann and Matt Blanock released a statement commenting on Williams’ new gig, “This week, ‘Dish Nation’ celebrates 500 episodes. We are thrilled to have the talented and tenacious Porsha Williams around for the next 500 and beyond.”
Williams was also pleasantly surprised with how easily she made the transition from in front of the screen to behind the mic and is excited about what the future holds.
“On my very first day in the Atlanta studios of ‘Dish Nation’ I immediately felt a natural chemistry with the team. Rickey Smiley is an amazing comic and I am thrilled to learn and grow with one of the best morning hosts in the country.”
