Illinois State Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from a transport van in a southwest Chicago suburb. Police say Walter Wilson escaped Saturday night before 11 p.m. while on Interstate 57 in Monee. Police say he was last seen in that area wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans and leg irons. Authorities say Wilson was being transported to Mississippi on charges of shooting in an occupied dwelling. Illinois State Police say Wilson is Black, about 5-foot-5 and weighs 140 pounds.
