CHICAGO (AP) — Two young Chicago cousins were jumping rope when gunfire broke out — killing one girl and wounding the other. There’s no word Wednesday on charges in the shooting, which happened Tuesday evening in the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. Deputy Police Superintendent Ernest Brown says the shots were fired by two males who rolled up on bicycles, fired and then fled. Relatives say the girl killed was 8-year-old Tanaja Stokes. The Cook County medical examiner’s office says she was shot in the head. Relatives say 7-year-old Ariana Jones was also shot in the head, but police say her injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
