Authorities say Chicago’s Independent Police Review Authority is investigating a confrontation aboard a bus between a police officer and a passenger who allegedly refused to pay his fare. A video that surfaced on the Internet shows an officer physically removing the man from the Chicago Transit Authority bus. On the video, the passenger appears to resist arrest by refusing to leave and later by appearing to physically rebuff the officer. The officer can be heard using profanity as he orders the passenger from bus. Their confrontation escalates into a physical struggle after the passenger, later identified as 49-year-old Lorenzo Wiley of Chicago, refuses to get off. Wiley was charged with misdemeanor theft of services for not paying. Review board spokesman Mark Payne said Wednesday the agency will obtain video of the incident from the CTA. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
