Dear Editor, What happened to the Illinois capital plan? I remember reading about the 439,000 jobs it was going to create and the $31 billion it was going to invest in communities across the state. I remember reading about Chicago needing to authorize its single largest funding source, video gambling, in order for the program to be fully funded and implemented. And I certainly remember reading about the thousands of Chicagoans who desperately need jobs right now.
Ald. Gene Schulter recently committed to holding public hearings on video gambling and I strongly urge him to hold these hearings as soon as possible. We cannot wait any longer to put people back to work and invest in our communities. Larry Ivory, president
