Despite stressing that no new cases of Ebola have been uncovered in America, Ohio Health officials are nevertheless meticulously monitoring more than 100 people following the visit by a Dallas nurse who tested positive for Ebola shortly after returning to Texas from the Cleveland area.

The Ohio Department of Health said the increase from 16 people to over 100 are for two reasons: the identification of airline passengers who flew with Vinson between Dallas and Cleveland; and the people who also visited the dress shop where her bridesmaids were trying on dresses.

Vinson’s stepfather remains quarantined in his home in the Akron, Ohio suburb of Tallmadge because that was where Vinson stayed during her visit, reports the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer.

Passengers who were on the October 10 Frontier Flight 1142 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Cleveland and passengers on Monday’s Flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas-Fort Worth have been asked to call the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and monitor themselves for symptoms.

The passengers on the other flight are not thought to be at risk for the disease, but Frontier is notifying them anyway. Those flights are:

  • Flight 2042 on Tuesday morning from Dallas to Cleveland
  • Flight 1104 on Tuesday afternoon from Cleveland to Fort Lauderdale
  • Flight 1105 on Tuesday afternoon from Fort Lauderdale to Cleveland
  • Flight 1101 on Tuesday night from Cleveland to Atlanta
  • Flight 1100 on Tuesday night from Atlanta to Cleveland

Health officials reiterate that the risk for contracting Ebola for the passengers aboard Vinson’s plane, the people she came in contact with in Ohio and especially those who flew on her plane on later flights is minimal.
