CHICAGO (AP) — As the cold weather kicks in, Chicago officials are reminding people that city services are available to residents. Chicago Richard Daley says Chicagoans have to help each other, particularly when it comes to the elderly, people with disabilities and homeless people. The city has added 40 new trucks to its fleet to help remove snow from city streets. The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services will also open daytime warming centers around the city. Most centers are open weekdays through March 1 or when the temperature drops below 32 degrees. The agency will also help with transportation for those needing to get from a warming center to an overnight shelter.
