President Barack Obama was in Chicago Monday at the annual conference of The American Medical Association to address doctors’ concerns about his plan to reform the nation’s current health care system.
President Barack Obama was in Chicago Monday at the annual conference of The American Medical Association to address doctors’ concerns about his plan to reform the nation’s current health care system.
Speaking at the Hyatt Regency Chicago hotel, Obama told the large gathering of medical professions, “My view is that health care reform should be guided by a simple principle. Fix what’s broken and build on what works. And that’s what we intend to do.”
The president plans to have a universal health care system put in place in the next 10 years. Under this system, all Americans would have access to affordable health care, and those who cannot afford it would be provided a hardship waiver. Obama wants an electronic record system and more preventive care put in place as well.
