Obama heads home to Chicago to raise money

President Barack Obama is coming home to Chicago.

CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama is coming home to Chicago. Obama is due back Thursday to raise money, including at an event at Chicago’s Navy Pier. The president’s return to Chicago comes after he announced his campaign headquarters would be in the city. Chicago played a prominent role in Obama’s successful 2008 bid, including serving as host of his election night party. Obama’s three fundraisers on Thursday will raise money for him and the Democratic Party. Obama will return to Chicago again later this month. He and first lady Michelle Obama will be in town April 27 to tape one of the final episodes of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The show with the Obamas is set to air May 2. Winfrey is ending her show later in May after 25 years. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press.
