Pianist Sodi Braide is set to fill the Chicago Cultural Center’s Preston Hall with melodic and masterful renditions of Franz Schubert’s Impromptu in c minor, Franz Liszt Ballade No. 2 in b minor and Spanish Rhapsody, when he tickles the ivory as part of a concert series hosted by the International Music Foundation. Braide will be on piano for the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert.
His musical foundation and accomplishments are as multi-cultural as his personal life story.
Braide became interested in playing the piano in Dublin, Ireland when he was 3 years old. He continued musical studies in Nigeria until 1988, when he attracted the attention of the famous French pianist, Eric Heidsieck. Subsequently he was invited to participate in a televised concert in Paris. Braide ended up studying in France at Orleans Conservatory, then at the Conservatoire National Superieur and the Ecole Normale in Paris.
