CARBONDALE, Ill. — Less than two weeks into her term, Chancellor Rita Cheng is making changes at Southern Illinois University’s Carbondale campus. University spokesman Rod Sievers confirms that Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Victoria Valle has been reassigned, and an interim manager will soon be in place. Sievers says the move is a part of an overall restructuring of the Enrollment Management office. Cheng has talked about fiscal challenges and enrollment issues since being named to the top post. Valle was hired in 2007. She was brought in to turn around declining enrollment numbers, but those numbers have remained flat in the years since. It’s unclear what her new position is or if she plans to stay. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
